The contemporary artist Tanja Hirschfeld is German-Italian and lives in Munich. With a degree in communication design, her work deals intensively with the symbolic language of different cultures. In her oil portraits and textile works, she playfully creates a context between the foreign and the familiar, consciously creating intercultural proximity and dialog. Tanja is the founder and member of the artist collective “Die Villa,” which explores the role of women in society. She works interdisciplinary in the fields of fair fashion, design and installation and is involved as a curator of various exhibition formats. Together with the artist and curator Miro Craemer, she has organized various exhibitions in Munich since 2021, such as the Glockenbach Biennale. Hirschfeld’s works have been shown in Berlin, Hamburg, Los Angeles, Barcelona, Siracusa and Bad Gastein. In October 2023, her latest AI-based series will be on display at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, where she has already exhibited with her collective “Die Villa” in 2021.
