Zillertal High Road

The Alpine road connecting mountains

The Zillertaler Höhenstraße is one of the most beautiful Alpine roads in Austria and offers every visitor a wonderful ride up to an altitude of 2,020 metres by car, bus, e-mountain bike or racing bike. You can also reach the Kristallhuette via the Zillertaler Höhenstrasse. The energy for the Zillertal and far beyond is generated from hydropower. Huge reservoirs were built for this purpose. A trip to one of the beautiful, turquoise-blue reservoirs is always worthwhile. You can drive to the reservoirs in your own car or by public transport.

Fichtensee

Swimming at 1.700 m above sea level

The Fichtensee lake enchants not only water lovers with its diverse offerings. A pram-friendly alpine trail connects the Fichtenschloss with the new Fichtensee. A viewing platform offers views of the surrounding mountains, a boat hire area invites you to row, and the relaxation niches and swings are perfect for unwinding, while other highlights such as stand-up paddle hire, jetties and the Wichtelbucht – a low-water area for the youngest bathers to splash around in – round off the wide range of activities on offer. The Fichtensee is the ideal place to improve your wood-lake balance. The food truck also caters for small appetites in between.
